Dry needling & shockwave

For the pain that won’t budge

Two proven tools for stubborn problems: dry needling for tight, painful trigger points, and shockwave therapy for long-standing tendon pain. Always alongside a proper rehab plan.

Which one do I need?

Needling or shockwave?

Muscles

Dry needling

Fine, single-use needles into tight bands of muscle to ease pain and restore movement.

  • Neck, shoulder and back tightness
  • Calf, hamstring and glute trigger points
  • Often helps in one or two visits

Tendons

Shockwave

Pulses of acoustic energy that stimulate healing in tendons that have been sore for months.

  • Plantar fasciitis and Achilles pain
  • Tennis elbow and patellar tendon pain
  • Usually 3 to 5 weekly sessions

Not sure which suits you? Book a physio initial consultation and we will assess you first.

Safety first

Done by physios trained in the technique

Sterile and single-use

Every needle is sterile, single-use and disposed of straight after your treatment.

Assessed first

We check your history and explain the benefits and risks before we start, and ask for your consent.

Part of a plan

Needling and shockwave ease pain. Exercise is what keeps it away, so you always leave with a program.

Questions

Before you book

Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?

They use similar needles, but dry needling is based on Western anatomy and targets trigger points in muscle, rather than traditional acupuncture points.

Does it hurt?

You may feel a quick twitch or a deep ache as the muscle releases, then relief. Some people are a little sore for a day, like after a workout.

Is shockwave painful?

It can be uncomfortable for a few minutes. We start gently and adjust the intensity to what you can handle.

Who shouldn’t have these treatments?

We avoid needling and shockwave during pregnancy, over areas of infection, and for some people on blood thinners or with a pacemaker. Tell us about your health and medications when you book.
